Mediation Centre of Excellence in Wales Survey

Skills for Justice is conducting research on behalf of the Welsh Government to explore the viability of creating a mediation centre of excellence in Wales.

Mediation is predicted to play an increasingly important role in the justice sector as an alternative to litigation which allows disputes to be resolved more quickly, efficiently and at a lower cost than traditional litigation routes.

Mediation in Wales is a growth industry. Here we keep you up to date with local developments in Wales.

The job of mediator is increasingly being recognised as a job role for the future. Mediator is a role that many managers and HR staff find themselves in on a daily basis. Mediation skills are now an essential part of good line management.

US News cites mediator as one of their ´Best Careers for 2013.´ Now is a good time to get involved.

The mediation scene in Wales is a growing arena. The Ministry of Justice´s Small Claims Mediation Service operates from Civil Justice Centres across the UK. The national pilot won an international award and client feedback has to date been very positive. The Service is accessed through your local Civil Justice Centre.

Cardiff County Council announced their Trading Standards mediation service. This is a pilot and may be the shape of things to come for local authorities across Wales and the UK.

The most commonly used mediation services are Family Mediation Services operating under the Family Law Act for couples separating or divorcing. See our Links page for umbrella bodies to find local services. Such services can also be provided by your local solicitor.
